Terms of use

These terms are an agreement between you and the team behind Pockabee (“we”, “us”) about the Pockabee apps, the Premium service and this website. By using Pockabee, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it.

Our privacy policy explains how data is handled.

Pockabee is a personal tool for recording your income, spending, bills, budgets, debts and goals. It works on your device, without an account.

• It isn’t a bank, wallet, payment service or lender, and doesn’t hold or move money.
• It doesn’t connect to your bank or pay your bills. “Move money” and “Mark paid” only change your records.
• Stopping tracking in the app doesn’t cancel a subscription with its provider. You need to cancel with them directly.

Nothing in Pockabee is financial, investment, tax, accounting or legal advice. That includes budgets, plans, health figures, savings ideas and AI reports. You’re responsible for your decisions. For important ones, talk to a qualified professional.

Some of what you see is an estimate or relies on what you entered, so it can be wrong or out of date:

• Totals and “Free to use” depend on the records you’ve entered.
• Exchange rate estimates use rates you enter. The app doesn’t fetch live rates.
• Receipt scans can misread things. Please check each amount before you save it.
• Reminders depend on your phone’s notifications, settings and battery rules. They can arrive late or not at all, so please don’t rely on them alone for anything with a penalty attached.

You must be at least 13, or the higher minimum age for digital consent where you live. If you’re under the age of majority, a parent or guardian needs to agree to these terms, especially for purchases.

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your own non-commercial record-keeping, on devices you own or control and within the rules of the store you got it from.

What you enter is yours, and we claim no ownership of it. You’re responsible for its accuracy, for keeping your device secure, and for keeping your own backups.

Your records are stored on your device, and cloud backups go to your own cloud account. We can’t retrieve records you’ve lost by losing your phone, deleting the app, erasing your data or losing access to your cloud account.

You can export your records as a spreadsheet at no cost, including after Premium ends.

• Billing. Premium is an auto-renewing subscription, not a one-time purchase, sold through the App Store or Google Play. The billing period and price for your country are shown before you buy, and your store charges you.
• Renewal. It renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel before then in your store account. Apple asks for at least 24 hours’ notice before the renewal date. If a price changes, your store will tell you as its rules require.
• Cancelling. Cancel in your store account. Deleting the app doesn’t cancel it. Premium continues until the end of the paid period.
• Refunds. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their rules, and under your consumer rights where you live.
• Trials and offers. If your store offers an introductory price, its terms are shown before you buy.
• Devices. Premium belongs to your store account. Restore it on another phone using that account, within limits (currently up to 5 devices at a time). An App Store purchase doesn’t carry over to Android, or the other way around.
• When it ends. Your records stay, and you can still read and export them. Existing bills stay listed. Bill reminders and starting new Premium things pause.

AI reports need Premium, an internet connection and your agreement to send a summary. Your phone calculates the figures, but the text comes from an AI model and can be wrong, incomplete or unsuitable for you. Plans change your budgets only when you accept them.

• Allowance. Reports have a monthly allowance, shown in the app. Today that’s up to 5 weekly analyses, 1 monthly summary and 2 budget plans. We may change it.
• Availability. AI reports depend on outside providers and overall usage limits, and may be paused or unavailable at times. They’re an extra, not a guaranteed service level. Mandatory consumer rights still apply if something you paid for materially fails.
• Your input. You’re responsible for what you type into a request. Please don’t include another person’s private details without the right to share them.

Please don’t:

• use Pockabee for anything illegal or fraudulent
• reverse engineer or copy the app, except where the law allows it regardless of this rule
• attack, overload or probe our server, or get around allowances, device limits or subscription checks
• resell Premium, or share a store account to hand out access
• use AI reports to create harmful content, or to build a competing model or service

The apps, website, design, the Pockabee name, logo and mascot belong to us or our licensors. These terms don’t give you rights to them beyond using the app. Open-source components stay under their own licences, listed in the app. If you send us feedback, we may use it without owing you anything.

Pockabee relies on services we don’t control, including Apple, Google, Cloudflare and Anthropic. Their own terms apply to your use of them, and we’re not responsible for their outages or actions, except where the law says otherwise.

We may add, change or remove features, or stop offering parts of the service, including server-based features. We’ll try to give reasonable notice of significant changes. Recording in the app doesn’t depend on our server, and your records stay on your device. If we end Premium while you have paid time left, your store’s refund rules and your consumer rights apply.

To the extent the law allows, Pockabee is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don’t promise that it will always work, be free of bugs, or never lose data. This doesn’t affect consumer rights that can’t legally be excluded.

To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of profits, savings or data, or for decisions you make based on the app. That includes missed payments, late fees, and losses from wrong figures, reminders or AI reports.

Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the greater of what you paid for Premium in the 12 months before the claim and US$10.

Nothing here limits liability that can’t legally be limited, such as for fraud, or for death or injury caused by negligence. Your mandatory consumer rights where you live also stay in place.

You can stop at any time by deleting the app, and cancelling Premium in your store account if you have it. If you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, we may suspend or end your access to server features like AI reports. The app’s records on your phone stay with you. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as liability, continue after these terms end.

If something goes wrong, please contact us first, since most things can be sorted out with a message. If you’re a consumer, nothing in these terms takes away the mandatory protections of the country where you live, or any right you have to bring a claim there.

We may update these terms, and we’ll change the date at the top when we do. If a change is significant, we’ll tell you in the app before it applies. If you keep using Pockabee afterwards, you accept the new terms. If you don’t agree, please stop using it and cancel any subscription. If part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.

If you got the app from Apple’s App Store

• These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for the app and its content.
• Your licence is limited to using the app on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as the App Store Usage Rules allow.
• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
• If the app fails to meet an applicable warranty, you can tell Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
• We, not Apple, are responsible for handling claims about the app, including product liability, failure to meet legal or regulatory requirements, and consumer protection or privacy claims.
• We, not Apple, are responsible for investigating and resolving any third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual property rights.
• You confirm you’re not in a country subject to a US government embargo, or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you’re not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• You agree to follow any third-party terms that apply when you use the app.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Once you accept them, Apple may enforce them against you.

If you got the app from Google Play

The Google Play Terms of Service also apply, and Google’s policies govern purchases and refunds made through Google Play. Google isn’t responsible for the app or for these terms.
